AHC is a niche real estate and development consultancy company run by Alan Hill, a chartered surveyor who became a Fellow of the RICS in 1984 and obtained an MBA in 2003. His significant experience has principally been concentrated on corporate real estate, development and acquisitions on behalf of owner occupiers. In the last 20 years AHC has mainly focused on occupier development in the A1 , A3 , budget hotel , retirement living and self storage sectors.
Alan started his career in the public sector - GLC and Lambeth Council - in the late 1960’s / early 1970's. His subsequent national roles involved corporate real estate (CRE) with Marley and BET and commercial property development with Rush & Tompkins and Tilbury Douglas. He set up his consultancy practice in 1996 working initially as a consultant to DTZ (CRE), then moved into occupier development with Sainsburys (foodstores). He joined Shurgard (self storage) in 1999 on a full time basis working as part of the team that spearheaded their expansion into the UK.
He resumed his consultancy activities in 2002 specialising in freehold and leasehold acquisitions for owner occupiers in a range of sectors including A1 Food Supermarket and Convenience Store (Waitrose), A3 in town and roadside coffee units (Starbucks franchisee), Budget Hotels (Travelodge), Medical Centres (Matrix), Retirement Living (Churchill) and Self Storage (Safestore & Shurgard). In addition he has also been engaged in residential development consultancy for SEEDA with GVA Grimley, development site acquisitions with Purelake (affordable housing) and Taylor Wimpey (private sector), and more recently commercial development consultancy with Savills for Regalpoint (employment / logistics).
